The Glory Of The Lord - Leviticus 9

Leviticus 9:6 Then Moses said, "This is what the LORD has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the LORD may appear to you."

Leviticus 9:24 Fire, came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell face down.

This section of scripture is interesting to me. The chapter explains the ritual sacrifices that followed the priests' ordination ceremony. It was out of obedience in the ritual that resulted in God's glory being revealed to the people in such a powerful way. The people were used to God's glory being in fire. His presence was with them as a pillar of fire at night. But this fire was different. A whole new system was being established where the people could get closer to God.
They could now ask for atonement for their sin and have it forgiven. They were shown God's holiness and introduced to the idea of a mediator to go between them and God in the form of a priest.

They had watched a very bizarre ritual where these priests were ordained. So as these sacrifices were offered they were waiting to see if this new system was going to bring God to them. How exciting? God with them, or at least closer to them. So they watched with anticipation and THE FIRE FELL burnt up the offering. They must have thought "THAT WAS IT! God was in this! I really can know more about him! He is real! He cares about me! He loves ME!" They shouted for joy and fell face down out of awe.

It makes me wonder how often I serve God throughout the ordinary routines of life or do I wait for some mighty act of God first before I act in obedience. What if I never see fire fall? After all, we don't operate under the sacrificial system anymore. Jesus is my priest and my sacrifice.

I truly believe that by following in obedience even in the simple things I do every single day, like washing dishes, teaching my children, working, and getting gas matter. Everything I do as a child of God and a carrier of his spirit are all holy activities where God's glory can show up in real ways. Very real ways to impact others.

God is at work in the world today. He really is. He has multiple missions and plans in place with people's souls at stake. And when we participate in that plan by being obedient to his Kingdom Life his power and glory show up. His Glory is shown through is people. WE ARE the carriers of light of his glory.

2 Cor 4:4 & 6
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God... 6For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

What a mission. To be a carrier of the glory of God to directly attack the enemies power over the minds of unbelievers.

WOW!!! As carriers of his glory, our simple obedient lives can actually create avenues for Gods Spirit to penetrate a heart with awe and shouts of joy.

Sometimes God's commands don't exactly make any sense. He may be leading you to mow your neighbor's lawn or lay it on your heart to sell a bunch of your belongings in your yard and give the money to others in need. Why? Only God knows. I mean why did he have Moses tell the priests to offer these sacrifices? I really don't know. It's all so very bizarre. God's kingdom defies my human logic. What I do know is God commanded.  The people obeyed. His glory was revealed.

As carriers of his glory, God commands, we obey and his glory is revealed.   Period.
